Alan Hobden
Alan Hobden is a Partner and Head of the Criminal Defence Department as well as the Compliance Officer for Finance and Administration for Stephen Rimmer LLP and the Partner in charge of our Trainee Solicitors.
Alan attends police stations and Magistrates’ courts to represent Clients on a variety of matters on a regular basis. His main practice involves being the Litigator in the Crown Court. Alan mainly represents clients in complex and serious criminal investigations, trials and sentences. Examples include;
- Sexual offences – rape, historic sexual allegations and internet related offences such as grooming and indecent images
- Fraud, “white collar crime”, benefit fraud, internet fraud and platform trading

Alan has and can represent individuals and companies in a Public Inquiry and is one of the most experienced Duty Solicitors and Litigators in Sussex.
Career
Shortly after qualifying Alan became a Partner in a local law practice in Criminal, Family and Civil Litigation.
Alan joined Stephen Rimmer LLP in 2005 and in 2006 he was made Partner and Head of the Criminal Department.
Qualifications, professional memberships and accreditations
Alan obtained his Law degree at the University of East Anglia and continued his studies at the College of Law in Chancery Lane, London. He qualified as a Solicitor in September 1991 and was admitted as a Duty Solicitor in April 1992.
