Training Contracts

We are a growing Practice with ambitious goals and are always looking for the right people to join us.

Who are we looking for?

We are a people first business.  We look to make law accessible and easy to understand for our clients. Excellent communication and the ability to work in a team are at the very top of the list for us when it comes to our trainee recruitment process.

Who should apply?

We look for bright ambitious, personable people.  A good degree and experience of working in a law firm are an advantage but we place more weight on how applicants perform in our assessment programme.

Training Contract application process

Alan Hobden and Grant Sanders head up our trainee programme and oversee the recruitment process.  If you would like to be considered you should send CV and covering letter to Alan.Hobden@stephenrimmer.com.

All applications are vetted and successful applicants will be invited to an assessment day where you will be asked to complete a written, task-based and group assessment.

Successful candidates will then be asked to attend an interview with our senior partners.

What are training contracts at Stephen Rimmer like?

We want to give all trainees the best start possible to a long and fulfilling legal career. See what some of our trainees, past and present, have to say about training with us – don’t hesitate to reach out to any of them if you want to learn more.

Lara Harriette

“Working at Stephen Rimmer is like being part of a family. I enjoy coming into work and being surrounded by such supportive and friendly colleagues. We have regular socials and group lunches. During the first few months of my training contract, I had the opportunity to attend the Royal Courts of Justice for a 5 week fact finding hearing. The work I have undertaken during my training has varied from day-to-day and I am always learning something new. I am grateful to be surrounded by such experienced and stimulating colleagues.”

Isabella Mullarkey

"Everyone is really lovely, helpful and approachable. If you ever have a problem it's easy to go and ask someone.  You don't have to be worried about what you are going to sound like if you have to ask a question. Everyone is really happy to help at any point or if they don't know to put you in touch with someone who does"

Jessica Russell

"I am enjoying the experience greatly, initially I started as a secretary which enabled me to build up some experience and to learn the systems. Then when an opportunity arose to apply for a training contract I found the application process a good test of my administration and organisational and skills and I really enjoyed the group exercise"
