Joseph Sherriff
Joe Sherriff is a Residential Conveyancing Solicitor at Stephen Rimmer LLP, acting for clients across the full range of property transactions. Joe handles a varied caseload that includes purchases, sales, remortgages and transfers, with particular experience in new-build, auction and shared ownership matters where exchange and completion must take place within tight timescales.
He understands that moving home can be one of the most stressful experiences a client goes through, and he places real importance on being proactive and keeping clients well-informed at every stage of the process.
Having worked his way up within the firm, from legal secretary through to qualified solicitor, Joe has a thorough, ground-up understanding of how a conveyancing transaction works and what clients need from their adviser. Approachable and diligent, he is committed to making each move as smooth and straightforward as possible.
Areas of practice
Joe specialises in residential conveyancing, acting for buyers and sellers on purchases, sales, remortgages and transfers of equity, as well as preparing declarations of trust.
He has particular experience handling new-build, auction and shared ownership purchases, including transactions that require exchange and completion within short turnaround times. Joe guides clients through every stage of their move, from initial instruction through to completion, and prides himself on clear and regular communication throughout what can often be a complex and time-pressured process.
Experience and background
Joe studied law at the University of Southampton, graduating with an upper second class LLB in 2018, where he was awarded the Thomas Eggar Prize for the highest overall performance in EU Law.
He went on to complete the Legal Practice Course and an LLM at the University of Law in 2022, achieving a Distinction.
Joe began his career at Stephen Rimmer LLP in 2020 as a legal secretary in the Conveyancing department, before moving into an assistant role supporting a partner in 2021 and beginning his studies towards qualification. He was then offered a training contract, completing seats in residential conveyancing, family and criminal law before qualifying as a solicitor in September 2024. He now works within the firm's Residential Conveyancing team, where he takes on a varied caseload. Joe is registered with the Solicitors Regulation Authority.
Outside the office
Outside of work, Joe enjoys travelling to new places, as well as playing and watching football and keeping active. He likes to spend his weekends with friends and family or playing sport, and Japan is top of his list of places still to visit.
