Alastair Douglas is an Associate Solicitor in the Criminal Defence Department supervised by Alan Hobden. Alastair was called to the Bar at Lincolns Inn in June 2005 and represents clients at the Police Station, Youth Court, Magistrates’ Courts (guilty pleas and trials) and Crown Court case preparation.
Alastair is an experienced solicitor with an expertise in road traffic offences and believes the ability to strike the balance between strongly defending the client’s corner while not antagonising the Crown or the Court is key.
Prior to joining Stephen Rimmer LLP Alastair worked for the then Shadow Attorney General Dominic Grieve QC MP in Westminster. Work involved timely briefs on Bills before the House, assisting on various Bills on which Mr Grieve was the lead opposition MP such as the Corporate Manslaughter Bill and anti-terror Legislation. Alastair graduated from the University of Bath in 2001 with Bsc (Hons) Economics and Politics and undertook the Graduate Diploma in Law in 2003 and the Bar Vocational Course in 2004. Alastair cross-qualified to become a Solicitor in 2009 and a Duty Solicitor from June 2010.
Outside of work Alastair’s interest include Africa, economics, politics, rugby union and ruby league.
