Nick graduated at Cambridge and subsequently qualified as a solicitor in 1978. He worked in firms in Cambridge and Hampshire for several years before joining Stephen Rimmer & Co in 1987. Nick is the Partner in charge of the Private Client Department and is a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners. He specialises in Wills, Probate, Trusts, Inheritance Tax Planning and advising and looking after the affairs of the elderly.

John qualified in Essex after completing a Law degree at Leicester. He gained a Law Society distinction in family law and progressed to membership of the Children Panel (to represent children independently within proceedings) and the Advanced Family law Panel, covering emergency procedures and financial consequences of divorce and litigation.

Although early experience was more general litigation John has concentrated almost exclusively on family work at Stephen Rimmer & Co.

He is a mediator offering through JAS Mediation Services independent mediation in family cases to separating couples. He is an officer of the East Sussex Board and Solicitors member of the Local Family justice council.

Jonathan grew up in Lewes and has lived in Sussex for the majority of his life. He enjoys playing cricket, cycling, walking and cooking.

Mark undertakes all aspects of Company and Commercial works as well as Residential leasehold enfranchisement matters.

In 2000 Sarah came back to her roots to join Stephen Rimmer & Co and is now an established property lawyer with a friendly and approachable manner.

Married with a menagerie of animals, Sarah is a keen horsewoman and lover of the countryside. She also enjoys swimming, snorkelling and foreign travel.

Adam joined the Civil Litigation department in October 2006. He originally trained as a Barrister and was called to the Bar of England and Wales in July 2003. Before joining Stephen Rimmer & Co. he worked for solicitors in London and gained experience of litigation in the civil courts as a self-employed advocate specialising in landlord and tenant cases, debt claims and contract disputes.

He undertakes a wide range of civil work including personal injury, negligence and contested probate. He transferred from the Bar to become a Solicitor in 2007

He lives in East Sussex and in his spare time he enjoys playing golf, listening to music and going to the pictures.

Alex joined Stephen Rimmer & Co. in mid 2007 as a member of the Civil Litigation Department, working for and on behalf of large international companies, small business owners, and individuals in a range of legal areas. Alex originally trained as a Barrister and lists advocacy and drafting as the most satisfying areas of his work, especially in relation to breach of contract and negligence matters. Alex is in the process of transferring over from the Bar to become a Solicitor and has previous experience developing and maintaining a number of commercial interests.

Having been captain of a number of teams, Alex now enjoys watching the beautiful game- being rugby of course, whenever the opportunity arises. He also enjoys a good book, Kayaking and wakeboarding- whenever there's time to fit it all in.

Antony studied law at Kingston University. At the beginning of 2003, he completed his training contract with Southampton City Council and qualified as a solicitor. Antony has worked in the Criminal Department since then.

He was admitted as a duty solicitor in November 2004 having completed Stage 1 of the Criminal Accreditation Scheme. Antony undertakes work at the police station and magistrates' court and is an accomplished trial advocate.

Antony is secretary of Eastbourne Volleyball Club and plays for their first team. He also is a keen runner and cyclist.

Noelle joined Stephen Rimmer & Co. in September 2006. Noelle attended Queens University Belfast where she obtained a 2.1 LLB degree in Law, then furthered her education going on to Chester's College of Law to complete the Legal Practice Course. Noelle worked in Manchester in a Criminal Firm where she completed her Police Station Accrediation with the Cardiff Law School and has been Police Station Accrediated since May 2005.

Noelle works in the Criminal Department specialises in representing suspects at the Police Station and advising them of their rights and entitlements and ensuring the Police abide by their Codes of Practice. Noelle deals with the Departments Prison Law matters, such as advising the client's on Re-call on Prison Licence, Parole and Adjudications.

In Noelles free time she enjoys returning home to Northern Ireland to see her family and friends. Noelle enjoys working on her father's dairy farm, reading Harry Potter books, supporting Northern Ireland's Football Team and playing Netball for the Firm's team Rimmer's Rascals.

Aron Studied history at the University of East Anglia from 1995 to 1998 before completing both the Common Professional Examination and the Legal Practice Course at Guildford College of Law. He then gained experience in other areas of Law including Commercial Property and Residential Conveyancing. He took a gap year to travel before joining Stephen Rimmer & Co. He has now found his forte in Wills, Probate and Trusts and these are the areas that he now specialises in.

Aron plays football, tennis and badminton. He also enjoys walking, reading philosophy and general fictional books.

After leaving college with an Advanced GNVQ in Business Studies Grant gained experience working at both Eastbourne and Hastings Magistrates Courts before joining Stephen Rimmer & Co. Grant moved to the Private Client Department in January 2003 and specialises in the Administration of Estates and looking after the affairs of the elderly. Grant has been keen to develop his legal career since joining Stephen Rimmer & Co and is currently in his third year of the Institute of Legal Executive Qualification.

Grants has an eclectic taste in both music and literature and frequently gets involved in local charity fundraising, however his main love in life is his Mini Cooper and he likes to spend any spare time he does manage to accumulate under the bonnet.

Having experienced divorce, responsibility and sole care for 3 children, Family Law was a natural specialisation for her. With a particular interest in children law, she is an Accredited Member of the Law Society's Children Panel, qualifying her to represent children and parents in public law proceedings. She joined Stephen Rimmer & Co in May 2002.

Jane qualified as a solicitor in 1990, after working as a teacher for several years.

Initially practising in Colchester in Essex, Jane joined our Family Department in 2006 as a senior Family Law Practitioner. Her particular areas of interest and expertise are property and financial issues arising from divorce, cases where parents cannot agree on the arrangements for their children, domestic violence injunctions, and issues that can arise when partner separate. Jane is an accredited member of the Family Panel of the Law Society, and she is both a solicitor and mediator. She holds membership of Resolution – First forFamily Law, and the Family Mediators’ Association.

Jane’s interests include spending free time with family and friends, walking, cycling, swimming and snorkelling, travelling, reading and gardening.

Derek was educated at Hastings Grammar School. He has practised as an executive within Family Law for over 40 years. Much of his previous experience was gained in highly respected central London and provincial law firms. He joined Stephen Rimmer & Co in 2000. Derek is a member of Resolution – First for Family Law. He trained as a Relate counsellor and as a mediator. He spent four years as administrative secretary and press officer to the British Legal Association. For seven years he was an LEA appointed school governor. He is now serving his third year as an independent hospital manager under the Mental Health Act.

His interests include his family, baroque music, church choral music, journalism, mental health and politics.

Hamed Ovaisi

 

 

Hamed joined Stephen Rimmer & Co. in March 2007 having completed the LPC at the College of Law. He gained a 2:1 (Hons) law degree at Queen Mary College, London, and spent the third year of his degree at the University of Leuven, (Belgium), achieving first class grades in a number of International Business Law modules. Hamed has also gained an MA in Legal and Political Theory from University College London and has a keen interest in philosophy and political thought.

Hamed works in the commercial department and has a strong business mindset. He has close links to the local community having lived in Eastbourne from the age of 7 and played football for a number of local football teams.

Hamed speaks fluent Persian and his interests include reading, socialising, travelling, and adventurous cooking!

Bob is responsible for the Development and Expansion plans of Stephen Rimmer & Co whose objective is to be the best and most trusted firm of Solicitors in Eastbourne and the surrounding area.
